Leah Dixon, what’s in your fridge?
“I am horrible at keeping any sort of consistency with maintaining how my fridge is stocked. It’s either full… or it’s totally empty. We can see here that it will be empty most likely by tomorrow. I also have no consistency with the products that I purchase. I live in Chinatown, and the stores nearby are always carrying different items and different brands of items. Should I be embarrassed by my screw-top wine, and my trashy coffee? Also, I didn’t know that I have like 5 different kinds of ketchup and mustard, until now. After all, I live in America…. maybe I’m more addicted to brand diversity than I realized.”
Leah was recently accepted to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture for their 9-week residency, she heads there in June. She is slated to begin graduate school at SVA in the fall, where she will be earning her MFA in Fine Arts. This summer you can see her work in a group show at toomer labzda gallery in the Lower East Side. See Leah’s work and read about her upcoming projects on her website above.
